About Temple:

Shree Sanatan Dharam Sabha (Regd.), Geeta Bhavan, Hari Mandir, commonly known as “Hari Mandir (हरि मंदिर)”, is a Hindu temple (mandir) dedicated to Lord Ram and Krishna. It is located in Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar, Mumbai, India. Established in 1950 and rebuilt in 1980, it is one of the oldest and most famous temples in the locality from Sion-Matunga.
Every Year Temple Trust organized Mathura-Vrindavan Tour for devotees at the time of Holi Festvial, also organizes free tour to Mata Vaishnodevi (Jammu) for Poor’s, Trust Often organize Free Camp for Eye Checking, Diabetes Blood Sugar, Yoga Training etc. Trust also has Ambulance service which is provided free of cost
Many of the devotees of Hari Mandir are regular pilgrim of Mata Vaishno Devi (Jammu) so for their convenience Trust made a unique idea which is one of it kind in the whole city. On 13th September 2006 trust brought a Flaming (Akhand) Jyoti from Divine Enclave of Mata Vaishnodevi (Jammu) and Established at Hari Mandir which is Flaming intact till date.
The Present Structure of Hari Mandir was a rebuild of year 2000, The Temple has Three Spires on top of three main Shrine adjacent to each other. On the left side Shrine there are idols of Shiva-Parvati, center shrine has idols of Ram-Krishna Darbar (i.e. Rama-Sita, Lakshmana and Hanuman with Radhe-Krishna) while shrine of right has idols of Maa Durga and Santoshi Mata. Temple also has separate idols of deity Ganpati & Hanumanji on Left & Right side respectively with Mata Yamuna, Mata Ganga, Saraswati Mata, Bharat Mata and Gayatri Mata surrounded. The three main shrines is also surrounded by the Carving Structure of Story of Lord Shree Ram (Ramayan). Temple has a separate shrine dedicated to Lord Shiv in form of Shivling, where devotees were given facility to do Jal-Abhisehk (Water Based Pooja). There is a Air-conditioned Hall on the first floor for the purpose of religious & social discourses. The whole Temple is secured by CCTV cameras which were installed in year 2009.


In the year 1947 after the Partition of India, saving lives from the worst mascare of 20th century millions of refugees came to India, among them around 1000 humanity moved to Mumbai (that time Bombay) they were footed, hungry, Youngs, Olds, Women all were in search for a place to live. They found a camp in the military barracks of Guru Tegh Bahadur Nagar. After Settling down a Little the first need was a Religious Place to Worship with community. In late ’47 People gathered, brought Pictures of Godhead from own house and started Prayer. Mats-Carpets were in the name of wall and tin-sheet for roof and Established a Raw Temple(Mandir). On 13th April 1950 a proper structural temple created and was named as “Hari Mandir”. In Year 1953 mandir received Land from Government of India and Established a Proper Temple also Registered a Trust named as “Shree Sanatan Dharam Sabha (Regd.) Mumbai” In Year 1980 Trust Installed New Moorti(Idols) of Lord Shree Ram, Mata Sita, Laxmiji, Hanumanji, Shree Radhe-Krishna, Matarani, Mahadev Shivji and Mata Parvati which is present till date.

Special Days in Temple:

Shree Ram Navmi
The Stri Satsang Mandal organised 108 Navgraha Parayan Ramayan Path in which womens does group path from 6.00 am to 8.00 am and 2.00 pm to 5.00.           In this Festvial Swami Swatmabodhanandji Puri Maharaj (Sarva Darshanacharya) came for the purpose of preaching. Havan was organised of the Ninth Day in which many devotees took part, which was followed by a Very Huge Bhandar organised on the ground of Sanatan Dharam High School.

Hanuman Jayanti
Sundarkand Path was done by the group of devotees which includes both Women’s and Men’s after which their was Havan and also Bhandara was specially organised.

Vaishak Parv
This is the Day when Trust was Established. On this day on 13th April 1953, organisation (Trust) was legally registered in the office of Charity Commissioner. On this occassion Trust organised Akhand Ramayan Path (Continous Ramayan Recital) which was completed on the second day followed by Special Prasad Distribution among devotees.

Nirjala Ekadashi
Every year, Temple celebrated Nirjala Ekadashi, on this occassion distribution of Chabil was organised by members in which many devotees took part.

Shree Krishna Janmashtami
On this occassion Shrimad Bhagwat Puran Weekly Path was organised. In this 3 Main Devotees participated and done Pooja on first and last day. For the purpose of Preaching “Bhagwatacharya Balvyas Aacharya Abhishek Awasthiji Maharaj” specially came from Vrindavan with the help of his associates he performed a heart-touching musical story of Shrimad Bhagwat.

Jyoti Sthapana Day
Every year 23rd September is a day of Festival in Hari Mandir because on this day Akhand Jyoti from the Divine Enclave of Mata Vaishnodevi (Jammu) was brought and establised in Hari Mandir, Mumbai. They organised Mata ki Vishal Chowki which was performed by Pandit Suresh Poonchi (Jammuwale) and Shri Bablu Duggal and Party (from Shrirampur) in which many devotees participated.

Navratri Utsav
Navratri Utsav was celebrated in a huge manner. On this occassion every day Mata Ki Chowki was performed by differet singers and on Ninth Day Havan was organised followed by Bhandara.

Vijay Dashmi
Vijaydashmi Festvial was celebrated grandly. Thousands of people came to see the Burning of Ravan (Ravan Dahan) in which 1008 Swami Swatmabodhanand Puri Ji Maharaj described about the fame of Lord Shree Ram.

A huge rangoli was drawn in the Hall of Geeta Bhavan, Hari Mandir which was seen by many devootes for long time. Also a Huge Lantern was Hanged outside was the attraction of People.

Kartik Mass
On the fortunate month of Kartik, Stri Satsang Mandal does Bhajan-Kirtan and Katha from 5.00am to 6.00am in which many womens participated. Special Bhandara was organised on Kartik Poornima Day. Tulsi Vivah was also celebrated on Kartik Ekadashi with the help of Stri Satsang Mandal and other women devotees.

Geeta Jayanti
Geeta Grantha Poojan was done on the occassion of Geeta Jayanti, after which Pooja of Vyas Gaddi took place. A Group of Brahman performed Geeta Path and Books of Geeta was distrubuted amoung Students.

When it was founded that on the day of New Year our children of new generation are getting bad habits than Temple decided and started a “Mata Ki Chowki” on the Eve of New Year, which was done by Pandit Suresh Poochi, Vicky Arora and Tril
